Diagnostic Essay -- Will You Really be the Judge?

I am an active user of the social networking site, Twitter. I have seen almost all kinds of "fans". I would encourage people to use social networking sites especially Twitter, but there is something I do not like about said site -- some of the people on it.

I am a fan of several people and things. I like comics and celebrities. My personal account on Twitter is public, so that I can reach out to the people I look up to who also have Twitter accounts. I try to let them know how much I love their work, but, somehow, people like me get judged by fellow users. Just because I like this certain band and this certain show, or whatnot, I am automatically judged to be this certain kind of person. There are several things we do not know about a person. Who are we to judge them just because they like, or dislike, certain things. And then, because a person doesn't like something (or likes something you happen to dislike), said person is automatically horrible or that person is no longer your friend.

There is also this group of people referred to as "hipsters". They are kids who like things before these things are considered popular. Once it gets popular, the hipsters no longer like them. At least, I think that's how it works. There's nothing wrong with that, but what I don't like about them is that some of them judge the people who like things that belong to the popular section. I mean, really? Will people really stoop so low? Whatever happened to keeping an open mind?

I just really cannot understand some teenagers these days. I know that I am part of this generation's youth, but I would like to step away from the chaos and ask myself, "Am I really a part of this? Do I want to be a part of this?" I know, for a fact, that this generation has a bright future ahead of ourselves. I've met very intelligent people who are just about my age.

Let's work among ourselves to change the world instead of being another problem in society. Stop the judging. Stop the hate. Live and let live! We already have enough problems in society; why don't we think of plausible solutions to those problems? We campaign for equality and all of those other things when we ourselves do not practice what we're "preaching".

Let's just drop everything. Let's start over. It's not too late for us. Let's just stop everything we are doing. Take a good look at ourselves and the people around us. Let's reflect on the things we really want to happen, and start the change within.
